Basic Rolled Oats Porridge

INGREDIENTS:
1 c. rolled oats
2 c. water
Pinch of salt
Slow cook rolled oats with water and a pinch of salt until thick and creamy, about 5–7 minutes. Finish with butter, milk or your favorite toppings for a warm, comforting bowl.
OPTIONS:
- Swap half the water for milk (or oat/almond milk) for creaminess
- Add ½ tsp cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
- Drop in 1 tsp butter or coconut oil
- Use a pinch of vanilla instead of extra sugar
- Add a date, blueberries or other fruit
Additional sweet addition ideas–
- Consider adding maple syrup and butter to taste
- Apple Cinnamon: diced apple simmered with the oats
